Build-A-Stitch ONLINE interactive class will be offered this fall! Class begins October 26th - registration for this first class is limited as I want everyone to have a great experience, so don't wait too long!

Andromeda Crossing

I'm pleased to introduce you to Andromeda Crossing.  This morning I finished her and this afternoon shipped it off!  It will be debuting at MQX Midwest so hopefully, if you're there you can see it!

And a few detail pics:

And a peek at the back before blocking, binding, and the sleeve was done:

So, the details...
The front hand dyed mandalas are my own.  I did them in a private group class with Cindy Lohbeck of Hands on Hand Dyes.  If you want to read more about that day, click here.  It was a lot of fun.  So from then until now, I've changed the squares quite a bit.  I added frames, cut a few of them up, and kinda made some magic happen!  There are a few progress posts of this piece over on my Patreon page (subscription) if you want to see more!  I'm also hoping to have a few more posts over there about the quilting, even though I didn't get to film much of it as there wasn't much extra time with my overdue deadline!  The beautiful backing is a piece dyed by Sondra Millard of She's Got Mojo.

So... the name, Andromeda Crossing.  Well, this quilt went through several names (formally thanking my friends for dealing with me through that)... it was bad.  Finally one day my friend Marian said the dyes kinda look like nebulas.  So I did a little research and found this photo of the Andromeda galaxy on Wikipedia:

Wow... purple and brown just like my fabrics!  And the crossing comes from the somewhat of an X pattern in my design.  So that's how I came up with Andromeda Crossing!

I do want to share that this beauty has 49.87 hours of quilting in it - we're just gonna round that up to 50!  That is just quilting hours, not construction, not design planning, just quilting.  And, I have done my fastest binding ever on this beauty... and yes, I have the bloody fingers to prove it!  And, after all that, why not add a few hundred dollars worth of Swarovski crystals?!!  Oh, and it finished up at 83" square (one of my largest pieces yet).  Is it perfect, not even close, but I am so unbelievably happy with it!!

MQX Midwest

You guys... MQX Midwest is only two weeks away!!  Make sure you read this post all the way to the end as I share a bit of big news!

I'm super excited to be teaching there as this is my first time at Midwest... hard to believe, I know!  I have a full line up of classes and I'd love to share some of them with you.

In the hands-on classroom I have:

Pop Those Lines!

Do you struggle with ruler work?  Do you want your ruler work to POP off the quilt?  Let me share some fun techniques with you and you'll be popping those lines almost instantly!

This class is on Wednesday - will I see you?!!

Spunky Funky Feathers

These are NOT your typical feather so don't let that feather word scare you.  These are also ZERO backtracking so they go super fast and are loads of fun!

This class is on Thursday - will I see you?!!

Are you a beginner?  Do you want to move from pantographs to the front of the machine?  Do you need a little confidence in your free motion capabilities?  Well, let me help you with ALL of that!  We'll start with a basic line and add one element at a time to create oodles of different stitches!

This class is on Thursday - HOPE to see you!

Who doesn't love a scroll?  Let me share multiple variations of the basic scroll as well as several other ways to utilize them in your daily quilting.  Scrolls are one of the easiest ways to create a cohesive design in almost any quilting project, and they are super fast and fun!

This hands-on class is on Friday - will I see you?!!

Breaking Down the Block

A brand new class based on my Block Breakdown series.  Do you ever struggle with what to stitch in each and every block?  Are continuous travel paths difficult for you?  Working on a preprinted panel we'll conquer thirteen common blocks and I'll be sharing several continuous travel paths for each one!  You'll then get to stitch your favorite version on your panel.  So many ideas and inspirations for almost any block!

This hands-on class is on Friday - will I see YOU?!!

I also have a couple lecture/demo classes - you know, in case hands-on just isn't your thing (or in the event they are full):

Spunky Funky Feathers lecture/demo style on Wednesday
Build-A-Stitch lecture/demo style on Wednesday

and, ready for this...

I'm also offering a DRAWING class!

Saturday morning you can spend picking my brain in The Creative Process as we draw, design, and plan out our very own quilts on paper!  This is one of my most favorite things to do (besides quilting)!  Before you know it you'll be designing your very next masterpiece!  No patterns here, it's all YOU!

I sure hope to see you!!
